Hello! My name is Brooke McCarthy (they/them). I am a broadcast technician, technical director, and technical producer currently living and working in Metro Vancouver.
Growing up, I just loved making stuff; be it writing stories for my friends, filming music videos on a camcorder, or graphic designing on Microsoft Word. By secondary school I fell in love with performance and entertainment, participating in musicals, choir, and captaining my school's competitive improv team. After graduation, my friends and I founded our own non-profit theatre company which ran for two successful seasons.
Through my diploma in Radio Arts and Entertainment from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (2021) and my Bachelor of Arts in Media Production from the RTA School of Media at Toronto Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson) University (2026), I have found an aptitude for technical multicamera production and live events. I focused my studies both on multicamera production and music business, even minoring in Live Events and Entertainment at TMU.
From theatre to music to sports, from Vancouver to Toronto and back again, I bring passion and interest to every project I work on. I love being surrounded by people who love what they do and learning why they love it. I love this industry because I get to immerse myself in a completely new world with every new production.
At my core, I am not an ideas person; I am a help-other-people-with-their-ideas person. I want to help you bring your creative stories to life through broadcast technology. I thrive working through the puzzle that is developing, organizing, producing, and broadcasting live entertainment.
When I'm not at work or at an event you can find me overanalyzing television shows, attending every possible craft market, playing guitar/ukulele, or messing around on Photoshop.
I am grateful to be able to live, work, and play on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of several First Nations, including the Katzie, Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, and other Coast Salish Peoples. As a settler on this land, I am committed to learning from Indigenous voices and working towards Indigenous reconciliation and sovereignty.
